Indicator colour
An indicator changes colour as the pH passes through its range.

- In the Titration Lab, choose an indicator.
- Add titrant and watch the flask colour change.
- Open “Which indicator works?” to compare colour ranges with the steep part of the curve.
What to notice
- An indicator is itself a weak acid: HIn and In⁻ have different colours.
- A good indicator changes colour inside the steep jump of the curve.
